About the North Carolina Board of Funeral Service (NCBFS)
The North Carolina General Assembly established the State Board of Embalming of North Carolina in 1901 to have authority over licensing and registering embalmers in North Carolina.
NCBFS observes the Holidays of the North Carolina State Government.
The Board currently oversees 758 funeral establishments, 903 funeral directors, 1,819 funeral service licensees, 178 resident trainees, 183,476 preneed contracts, 1,476 preneed licensees, and 136 crematories.
